For those of you that have ever dreamt about attending an all-girls school, first of all, I doubt it’s as awesome as you are thinking. Sure, you would be able to see your hottest classmates naked if you played your cards right. I doubt there is a male locker room that you can change into after all, so your options would be limited. But have you ever thought about how many girls you’d be around that were simultaneously on their period?

All I’m saying is it might not be all it’s cracked up to be. Or maybe it would be exactly like Koikatu. Unlike many hentai visual novels, Koikatu actually allows you to edit your own character with a character editor. You can download skins and the like, some of which are freaky as fuck. For this review, I stuck with a typical model. But if you are curious about using a player-created model and want to see what’s out there, I urge you to seek out, ‘Le Frenchman.’ Yes, he looks as fucking ridiculous as he sounds.

A new life living with your aunt

If you are the creative type, I urge you to check out the editing tool available for Koikatu. Or check out the mods. We’re not focusing on that shit for the moment, because frankly, who fucking cares if the game isn’t worth playing? Fortunately, there is a lot to enjoy about Koikatu, beginning with the hook of the story.

As ThePornDude has already fucking told you, the game begins with the character learning that they will be attending an all-female school. You see, your parents move around all over the goddamn country. The visual novel does not make clear if they are drug dealers, part of the military, or the Dad ends up fucking someone he shouldn’t have his dick inside at every community they move to. But when they move out of the country, it’s decided that you should live with your aunt.

She happens to be the principal at this all-girls school. The aunt fails to mention this, until the night before the first day of school, to which your character kind of freaks out. Who can blame him? The drama could be off the fucking wall.

One thing I appreciated is the awesome customization options in Koikatu. You can name your character obviously. As I’ve said, you can also add new models via the character editor tool. But beyond that, you can even name the school and even add perks and odd quirks to your character. I named the school PornDude Academy as per usual.

Beyond that, I made my character have to pee often, be friendly, slutty, and more. It adds a different aspect to Koikatu and will affect the way the game progresses throughout your playthrough. That’s convenient since the game is basically a traditional visual novel/dating sim that’s mostly on-rails. It’s more open than most (as we’ll get to in a moment), but you don’t typically see this level of customizable options in games like these. It’s a solid touch.

Excellent writing

You won’t hear me say that many pornographic games have excellent writing. To be honest, many of the porn games that you will find out there have fucking awful writing. That’s not why people play them for the most part. They want tits and ass in front of their faces, and most could not give less of a fuck that the writing is atrocious.

But Koikatu is one of those rare games that actually has excellent fucking writing. The quality of the writing, the way the characters are presented, and just the way everyone interacts with one another, makes you feel like you are actually at an all-girls school as the only male student. Developer Illusion did an awesome job carefully crafting how everyone speaks and plays off one another.

None of this would be possible if Illusion had not taken the time to have the game expertly translated. As you can probably guess, Koikatu is originally a Japanese game. Yet, the game has been translated so well that you can’t tell that it was originally in another language. The voiceovers are still in Japanese, but that adds to the overall environment of the game. When you have a translation that is this well done, the voiceovers make the game more authentic if you want to know my goddamn opinion.

The writing had better be perfect, too. Otherwise, players would get confused as to what in the hell is going on in this goddamn game. Because not only are you the only guy at this academy, but you are also the leader of a new club. However, what that new club entails makes it all the more questionable as to why in the hell your aunt invited you to this all-girls school in the first place.

Explore the school and get to know your classmates

Oh, you’re going to spend plenty of time getting to know your classmates! After your first day is well underway, you are going to learn that clubs are essentially the lifeblood of popularity at the academy. While Koikatu does not explicitly come out and say it, the most popular people are authorities in the biggest and most popular clubs. You are given the opportunity to be the leader of your own club, which is fucking awesome!

You learn quickly that there is a reason you were given the opportunity to lead your own club. You are actually the key part of a club. You see, the entire reason you have been given the opportunity to lead a club is to entice other girls to join and fuck you. The logic is that if a male is thrown into the school mix, the girls can get used to interacting with other males, understand the norms of relationships, and properly have intercourse.

I’m not sure they are accounting for the fact that women get just as fucking horny too. Having the only cock at an all-girls academy is a fucking recipe for disaster. Imagine all of the fighting, the nasty names they’d call each other, and the drama. For fuck sake, think about all of the goddamn drama you would have to listen to!

When you are introduced to clubs and getting chatty with the ladies, the game really opens up. This is what surprised me the most about Koikatu. I thought that as I played the game, it would strictly be a visual novel. Not so, once you have the opportunity to explore the academy. The game allows you to explore everywhere – even the girl’s restroom!

Beautiful cel-shaded graphics

As you explore the academy and chat with the other girls at the academy, you will start to appreciate the beautiful visuals of the game. They look downright gorgeous, and Illusion ought to be proud of what they have accomplished here. The graphics look so crisp, colorful, and like they jump out of the screen at you. Even so, Koikatu still has the same hentai-type of graphics that you would expect.

Often, you don’t see hentai games that look this goddamn attractive. Hentai games rarely ever let you explore a game in this open of a three-dimensional space like Koikatu does, yet you still get the sense that you are playing a hentai game.

That’s an awesome accomplishment, if you are asking me. Players rarely get to roam around in this kind of space, so to see it so differentiated kicks ass. Suppose you have ever played games like the Persona series and even Fire Emblem: Three Houses. In that case, you will get familiar feels as you roam the halls of PornDude Academy (or whatever you decide to name your own academy).

I had a fun time running around from the girl's restroom to the other girl's restroom to the cafeteria, courtyard, and everywhere else I could visit. If you don’t want to run around, Koikatu allows you to warp to different rooms. Alternatively, you can skip from one part of the day to the next. If you get tired of reading, you can even fast forward through the dialogue in Koikatu, though if you want to experience the entire story, I wouldn’t do that.

If you have even the tiniest bit of interest in hentai games, you have to give Koikatu a shot. The file size is fucking large in relation to most other visual novels. But once you start playing the game, you will see why this is the case. Try it out and spend a day in this all-girls academy, and use your power as a club leader to get your fuck on!

Koikatu is a visual novel/dating sim that has you getting through an all-girls academy one day at a time. It’s surprisingly open, well written, looks gorgeous, and full of sexual opportunities. Grab a girl’s tit, tell her you just want to fuck her, or try to get to know them so they will join your club (so you can…you know, fuck them later). It’s an enjoyable game hentai fans won’t want to miss, so check it out!
